The Insanity That Was Flugtag

Last Saturday was Redbull Flugtag in Nashville. Flugtag is German for "Flying Day" and as near as I can gather is pronounced flewg-tawg. This was pure insanity if I ever saw it. Teams built flying machines (well most of them didn't actually fly very well), which they pushed off a boat/podium/? at which point they flew/plummeted three stories into the Cumberland River below. And the crowd was just crazy. I've been to a few different concerts at the riverfront, and I've never seen so many people there -- some accounts estimate attendance of 80,000! People were packed in like sardines and passing out left and right from the heat.
I don't claim that these are great pictures, but I couldn't resist posting on this craziness.

Before the event started, the Red Bull skydivers made an appearance.

No, I didn't forget to rotate this picture.
